Sarah Nitz – Skate Team

Hi,

I'm Sarah and I started skating in 2020.

My goal is to have fun and learn a lot of new things, whether skating or in life.

Skating is not only my hobby, but has also enriched my life.

Sarah Nitz

Profile

1. Year of birth:

2006

2. When did I start skating?

I first went to a skatepark in 2020, immediately fell in love with skating, and got my first aggressive inline skates a few months later.

3. Personal motto:

Have fun and feel good.

4. Why SkaMiDan?

“Sarah radiated endless joy and passion for aggressive skating in her social media skate clips.

SkaMiDan stands for a love of the sport, having fun without the pressure to perform, and that is exactly why I (Daniel) asked Sarah if she would like to join our skate team.”

5. Why do I skate for SkaMiDan?

I skate for SkaMiDan because for me it is much more than just a team.

There is a family-like, welcoming atmosphere where you can be yourself.

Humanity always comes first, and I think that is very nice because, unfortunately, this is not taken for granted everywhere.

6. Skate disciplines:

Aggressive Inline Skating

7. Which skate discipline do I feel most comfortable in?

I feel most comfortable with aggressive inline skating.
I have also tried racing, as well as scootering and skateboarding, but so far nothing has been able to top aggressive inline skating.

8. Favorite skate spot(s):

Definitely in first place:

  • Reithalle Ulm

The other spots are:

  • Mini Ramp in Ravensburg
  • Skateboardpark Podgora (Croatia) (small but nice and absolutely wonderful people)

9. Greatest success in skating?

Without wanting to sound cheesy: In my opinion, my greatest success in skating is being accepted into the SkaMiDan team.

I have learned so much new, met so many new friends – most of whom I would rather call family – and had the most wonderful experiences, many of which were only set in motion by SkaMiDan.

10. Inspiration

I am inspired above all by other skaters whose skate style I find fascinating, as well as by sessions.

11. Which trick impresses me the most?

Flips, very difficult tricks, and many switch-ups impress me the most.

I mean: How on earth can you maintain full control upside down, without being afraid or floating over the rail with thousands of switch-ups?

12. Dream trick(s):

  • A nice backflip without being afraid (Aggressive Inline Skating)
  • A Rocket Fishbrain (Aggressive Inline Skating)

13. Favorite trick(s):

  • Breakdance (a trick invented by Gino Dangers)
  • Alleyoop Pornstar Grind
  • Kindgrind
  • Unity Grind

14. Favorite skate brand(s):

  • USD (Universal Skate Design)
  • Them-Skates

15. Favorite skate(s):

  • THEM x WKND 909 Orange

16. Skate goal:

My skate goal is to be able to skate for as long as possible, even when I am older.

In addition, I obviously want to have a lot of fun and learn many tricks.

17. Music while skating:

I actually always listen to something different. My favorite music is constantly changing.

If I have a new favorite song at the beginning of the week, I listen to it so often that I might not be able to listen to it again at the beginning of the next week.

18. What motivates me?

Seeing others skate motivates me a lot, because I can see exactly how the tricks are done and I can use them as a guide when trying them myself.

19. My tips and skate hacks for other skaters:

  • Ask bladers as much as possible. After all, it is not called “Who doesn’t ask remains stupid” for nothing. If you have the opportunity, have the tricks you don’t understand explained to you.
  • Film yourself! Does the trick simply not work, even though you are doing everything right? Then have someone film you or temporarily lean the camera against a bottle.
Often, a little change in perspective helps.

You see yourself and finally understand what is causing you to constantly fail.
  • Last but not least: Tip number three is to listen to your body.
It may sound obvious, but in case of doubt, it often isn’t.

If you notice that you can’t do it anymore, or something hurts in a way that doesn’t feel normal, take a break.
Your health is the most important thing and must not be neglected (which, of course, also includes a helmet and pads.)

20. My first skate that I started with:

My very first skate was a regular children’s inline skate from the supermarket around the corner.
A model that I would rather call a single point of failure.

My first aggressive inline skate, on the other hand, was the USD Realm Black

21. Favorite movie or series:

Definitely: Back to the Future - The best movie there ever was; seen over 20 times already, and there will surely be at least 20 more times to come.

22. Favorite food:

I have many favorite dishes, which can also change after a long time.
Currently, it is kebab (my dad’s sausage version) from my dad.

23. Are there other things that fascinate me besides skating?

Very many things fascinate me. I love learning new things, such as languages or words.
I am also very interested in filmmaking, as well as storytelling.

24. Do I pursue other hobbies besides skating?

I have been playing the piano since I was six years old, I like writing stories, I draw a lot, and I really, really like making short films.

25. What fascinates me about my other hobbies?

What fascinates me about my hobbies is that I can forget everything around me and just have fun.
You are then like in another world, where you don’t have to pay attention to anything and are in an absolute state of bliss.

26. Fun Fact / Personal:

As much as I can get excited about everything, there are things I absolutely hate:

  • Smacking sounds
  • Mind maps (far too disorganized)
  • Small talk (if you feel like having a conversation, this step can very gladly be skipped. There is surely something more interesting than the weather)

A big goal in my life is to know a lot so that I can tell a lot, as well as to learn to accept things as they are and consider some things unimportant without having to feel guilty.

I admire this very much in my grandma, for example, who is a very great role model for me with her happy, life-experienced nature.

Sarah Nitz – SkaMiDan Skate Team

Sometimes, a great passion begins in a place where you least expect it. That’s how it was for me with inline skating, which initially played almost no role in my life.

But a random trip to the skatepark and discovering SkaMiDan changed everything – setting me on a journey that not only enriched my hobby but also my life.

The starting signal

As a child, inline skating was never really one of my interests.

I did have a pair of inline skates, which I used maybe once every three years, but for the most part, they just collected dust in the closet.

In January 2020, while I was out skating with my little cousin, we decided to make a quick stop at the skatepark.

I already knew the park, as I had been there several times before with my skateboard or scooter.

So, we headed over, and there we were, trying out small ramps on shaky legs. Honestly, I don’t know how or why, but suddenly, I found myself enjoying skating. From that day on, I started going to the park more and more often, gradually expanding the range of ramps I could skate on.

At some point, I realized that what I had been doing for months was actually an entire sport—and not only that, it even had a name: I discovered Aggressive Inline Skating.

My first aggressive inline skates

When I realized that my inline skates were about to fall apart, I got my first pair of aggressive inline skates for Easter. From that moment on, I could be found at the skatepark every single day.

Although I was the only blader among many scooter riders, skateboarders, and BMXers, I quickly learned tricks through videos on social media – where I also came across SkaMiDan for the first time.

At the park, friendships were formed, and soon I was spending every free moment skating – not with other bladers, but with people from different disciplines. Thanks to the pandemic and homeschooling, this meant skating every single day.

Every now and then, I did spot the occasional blader, which always felt like a highly extraordinary event to me.

SkaMiDan Team

In mid-2021, I was welcomed into my second family: the SkaMiDan Team.

Having reached out to Daniel about six months earlier, it felt like a dream come true. I was warmly welcomed and had the chance to meet the other team members.

It felt like months before I finally stopped grinning from ear to ear.

From that point on, I started meeting more and more bladers, and I even got to skate with them.

Skatehalle – Reithalle Ulm

In mid to late 2022, I skated at the Reithalle Ulm for the first time, where I would soon meet the people I now skate with once a week.

More and more friendships began to form, and I slowly started to realize that with my new "hobby," I hadn't just opened the door to countless new friendships, loads of fun, and pure joy for life – I had also become part of a huge, worldwide family called „Aggressive Inline Skating."

Winterclash – Eindhoven

A family where everyone's goal is to have fun and skate together. This realization was solidified when I attended Winterclash for the first time in 2023.

To describe the atmosphere in one sentence: A hall filled with people, and the extraordinary thing is – if you fall, at least 10 helping hands are immediately reaching out to you.

joy and gratitude

To this day, I’ve skated in various parks (though most often at the Reithalle Ulm, which is, without a doubt, the best skatepark for me), where I’ve had the chance to meet many amazing new people.

Happy Sarah

In conclusion, I want to express my gratitude to everyone I’ve had the privilege of meeting so far. Thank you, SkaMiDan, thank you, Ulm, and thank you to everyone. I’d love to list you all individually, but this text would go on forever if I did.

With that, I wrap up my story and look forward to everything that lies ahead and everyone I’ve yet to meet.

My favorite skate disciplines

Aggressive Inline Skating

When I’m aggressive inline skating, I forget about the world and am completely immersed in the here and now. It challenges my mind and my physical abilities, and it always teaches me something new.

Welcome to the SkaMiDan Team

The following video is my welcome edit and my first video release on and from SkaMiDan.

Unity Grind – Advanced Trick Clip

I make the most progress when I watch other aggressive skaters master a particular trick.

That is exactly why I want to pass on my knowledge and skills in aggressive skating.

Together with SkaMiDan, I regularly publish trick clips and tutorials to help other skaters and share my passion for the sport.
